Overview of The Sterling Hall School Academic Program
The Academic Program at the Sterling Hall School supports a vibrant, forward thinking program that engages boys in learning. The program of study is based on a comprehensive selection of fundamental subject areas. We have also introduced a progressive series of Essential Skills in Language Arts, Mathematics, and Technology. Offering a full-service program enables students to develop multi-intelligence tools kits, so they are better prepared to meet the complex challenges facing them in the future. The heart of matter is that all experiences lead to the Sterling Hall “home” vision: “I can because I think.”. In essence, the SHS curriculum provides a program of learning that enables students to master Essential Skills and apply them within a full range of intellectual pursuits.
To emphasize our commitment to our school mission that states our students will think critically and compassionately, we have provided time for students to study Stewardship and Inquiry from JK to Grade 8. The provision of space in the timetable for The Sterling Stewardship Program, and the newly developed SHS Inquiry Program, provides time for students and teachers to pay deliberate attention to how we nurture and how we think and learn. The educational research firmly supports the notion that when students learn about these conditions, they form deeper understandings in all types of learning situations.
