Primary Division

The Primary Division includes Junior Kindergarten, Senior Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2. These are important years in the lives of our boys, setting the stage for success in the years to follow.

The Primary Division introduces boys to the basic skills of reading, writing, and arithmetic, which provide a foundation for their education in the higher divisions. The focus here is on practising and developing these important skills while introducing our inquiry-based approach to learning. Our Inquiry Program fosters a love of learning, engaging students by teaching them to become expert inquirers by thinking and behaving like researchers.

The Primary Faculty help the younger boys learn independence - from tying their own shoes to dressing for recess and looking after themselves.

Boys in the Primary Division also participate in leadership activities such as Student Council.

Boys in JK and SK are taught in small groups of 16-18, with two teachers per class for greater individual attention during these important years, when birth month and individual development can result in a high degree of differentiation in learning. Grades 1 and 2 have just 16 students per class, to facilitate development of the basic skills.
