Innovative Programs

Education at The Sterling Hall School utilizes the most successful techniques and approaches for teaching boys. Our academic curriculum includes a number of Innovative Programs outside of the core curriculum, in support of our commitment to inspiring students to think critically and compassionately.

Two of our programs, Sharkopoly and Rocket Writing, were developed at The Sterling Hall School based on research indicating how boys learn best. These programs increase the level of engagement in reading and writing and enhance success as students participate in fun learning-based activities.

The Sterling Stewardship Program uses curriculum developed by SHS Faculty and focuses on how students treat each other inside and outside of school. Materials have been piloted in international boys' schools and reviewed by experts in education.

The SHS Inquiry Program provides the support boys need in their journey to become expert inquirers by teaching them how to think and behave like researchers.

Electives offer the senior boys an opportunity to expand the scope of their knowledge with an additional subject of particular interest to them. Electives follow the 5-step Inquiry process: Wonder, Plan, Seek, Analyze and Defend.

In combination with a solid curriculum of basic skills and subjects, these programs provide innovative education to produce well-rounded boys ready to lead the way in the 21st Century.
