At Sterling Hall, we believe boys deserve every opportunity to pursue a foundational education that inspires and empowers them. SHS's commitment to financial assistance is designed to ensure that boys can pursue such an outstanding education.
Eligibility:
SHS is looking for students that meet our admissions criteria and students and families that align with our core values of Sterling Learning, Sterling Character and Sterling Community. Financial assistance is currently available to eligible families to support new and returning students in Grades 7 and 8 who are Canadian citizens.
Eligible families are families who believe in an SHS education but are unable to meet the full financial cost of this education.
There is a limited amount of funds available for financial assistance each year and this financial assistance currently provides support for between 2 and 4 students in grades 7 and 8.
Application Process:
All financial assistance decisions at SHS are need-based. Applications for financial assistance are reviewed by an independent financial services firm, Apple Financial Services, who provide SHS with a confidential report of a family's financial position and an assessment of their ability to contribute towards the cost of their son's education. This report includes an analysis of family assets and liabilities, as well as income and expenses, and these are all taken into consideration in assessing the application.
Amounts and eligibility are reassessed yearly by Apple Financial Services, and depending on a family’s financial position, the amount of assistance may vary from year to year. Parents must re-apply annually to qualify for assistance for the following school year. The application for financial assistance is processed by Apple Financial Services and is separate from the application for admission to SHS. For a new student, both application forms must be submitted by the application deadline (December 1, 2023) in order to be considered for financial assistance.
There is a financial assistance application fee of $130 (includes HST), and this is payable directly to Apple Financial Services. On request, we will provide a fee waiver code so that the school covers the cost of the application.
