At The Sterling Hall School, your contributions make a meaningful difference to our boys on a daily basis.

While tuition fees cover the basic operating costs of the school, your donations fund state-of-the-art technological and facility upgrades, innovative programs and professional development opportunities for our dedicated faculty and staff.

All donors are acknowledged in the SHS Annual Report. Donations are recognized with a tax receipt.

There are also many ways to contribute, from annual giving to supporting capital campaigns to planned giving. Here are ways you can give to SHS:

Annual Giving

One of the most popular ways for everyone from grandparents to alumni to show their support for SHS, annual giving provides a reliable source of funding for initiatives that ensure a superior school experience for all boys.

Our Board of Governors lead the way with 100 per cent participation in giving annually to SHS.

You can set up your annual gift online at sterlinghall.com/giving.

You can also donate by cheque, credit card or on your school account. Annual donations or pledge payments also count towards your grade’s participation in annual giving.

One-Time Gift

Planned Giving

Planned giving, also known as legacy giving, provides SHS with a future base of support that helps us to continue to offer educational excellence. A bequest or a gift of life insurance can meaningfully transform our school’s future!
Donors who choose to make planned gifts to SHS automatically become members of The Sterling Heritage Society.

The Robinson Family Fund

Our major financial assistance vehicle is The Robinson Family Fund, named in honour of former Principal Ian Robinson, who led the school for 17 years and enabled SHS to achieve a solid reputation for academic excellence and character development. The Fund was established in honour of his retirement, and is managed by The Sterling Hall School Foundation.

The Robinson Family Fund provides financial aid to boys in Grade 7 & 8 who clearly qualify for a Sterling education based on academic criteria, character and talent, but whose families do not have the financial means to cover the full cost of an SHS education.

We first welcomed scholars to receive partial tuition support through the Fund in September 2016, since then we have disbursed a total of $647K to 21 students in Grades 7 and 8.

Endowments

Endowments are large gifts in which the principal is protected, and the ongoing gift flows from interest earned through the investment of the funds. Endowment funds are permanently restricted. At The Sterling Hall School, endowments are generally used to provide student financial aid. Endowments are an important means of providing for future generations, as well as helping to increase access to an SHS education.
