Helping others to succeed is an important part of our culture. To reinforce this value, we have established a number of mentoring opportunities for the boys.
Students in JK-Grade 7 take part in a broad range of peer teaching activities, such as Learning Buddies, Tech Buddies, Writing Buddies, and Reading Buddies, in which students from higher grades mentor students in younger grades. Mentoring helps younger students, while fostering pride, self-discipline, and empathy in older students.
When a student enters Grade 8, he chooses a mentor from a list of more than 30 faculty and staff members.
The mentor commits to spending a half hour every week, providing a sincere and supportive ear, as well as advice and guidance on any issues the boy may wish to discuss. These can be informal meetings covering self-awareness or vocational issues, private, confidential chats, or an opportunity to cover practical matters surrounding school applications and admissions for the coming year.
