At The Sterling Hall School, our green school vision is to inspire our boys to know their natural world thoroughly, and to empower them to live responsibly as part of it. We believe that caring for our planet is an urgent requirement for every citizen of the Earth in the 21st Century.
As a committed green school, we have made environmental involvement an integral part of three key areas: the curriculum; the boys’ activism; and the school facilities. In each of these areas, we constantly strive to improve and expand our efforts.
Proudly, SHS is an Ontario Eco-School. We earned gold level accreditation in the 2011-2012 school year. We are continuing to do good work and maintain our standing this year.
The Green School Task Force was struck in 2007 in response to the 2006 Strategic Plan. The committee is composed of faculty, parents, students, alumni, staff, administration, and members of the Board of Governors. The committee meets regularly throughout the year.
Any interest in our green school initiatives should be directed to James Hay, Grade 8 teacher, at firstname.lastname@example.org, or Yael Wilder, SHS parent and past chair of the Parents Association.
