To promote collaboration among educators on a variety of important topics surrounding the education of children, The Sterling Institute holds a number of ThinkTank events.
Current topics and dates of ThinkTank events:
Dr. Thomas Phelan, author of "1-2-3 Magic" spoke to faculty in the primary division at SHS. He spoke about how best to manage undesirable behaviour, encourage good behaviour and strengthen the bond between teachers and students.
Ronald Morrish, author of "Secrets of Discipline" and "With All Due Respect," spent a morning with teachers in the junior and intermediate divisions. He spent time discussing how to build respectful student behaviour.
On Monday, November 3, 2014, Louisa Jewel, president of the Canadian Positive Psychology Association, presented to educators, practitioners and parents about the role of positive psychology both at home and school. Positive psychology focuses on individual strengths, well-being and optimal human functioning.
On Tuesday, March 24, 2015, The Sterling Institute hosted an afternoon of sharing best practices in the area of character education. Educators gathered to discuss the programs they are currently implementing in their respective schools.
