SHS News and Announcements
Sterling Hall’s Director of IT, Marco Zimbalatti, loves his job. He is a valued member of the Strategic Leadership Team and a faculty member of more than ten years.
"Our boys are very excited by tech and its application,” says Zimbalatti. “Starting in JK, every teacher and student uses tech to promote critical thinking and creative communication."
Along with providing support and strategic direction across the school, Zimbalatti engages boys in “makerspace” programs. SHS makerspaces inspires boy-focused learning; assisting in the creative process—be it woodworking, robotics or science and computer labs. There is ample opportunity to explore.
“The Cheddie Lab holds drones, video editing tools, robots and virtual and augmented reality experiences,” explains Zimbalatti. As students engage with these systems and tools, it is important to ensure that their personal student agency is at the forefront: their capacity to take purposeful initiative and seek the outcomes they desire.
Zimbalatti acknowledges the pace at which tech moves. And that AI is at our doorstep, yet says, “Technology promotes adaptability and agility. My hope is that when our students graduate, they perceive a spectacular future for themselves and the world. I want them to understand, as with most things, that the future holds an element of uncertainty—that’s where the growth happens!”
Zimbalatti and his team continue to grow their edtech complement in SHS’s Cheddie Lab with VR equipment and new 3D printers arriving in the new year.
