SHS News and Announcements
At the Principal’s Party on November 28, 250 friends of SHS were gathered to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Board Chair Doug McCutcheon announced that after many years and significant efforts, SHS has purchased the property and buildings at 99 Cartwright from the TDSB.
"We have reached a significant milestone in our history," said Doug. "In addition to our 30th anniversary, we can now celebrate having a permanent home and look to the future with great optimism." SHS has enjoyed a long-term, renewable lease since moving into 99 Cartwright in 1992, which was then a vacated TDSB school. It has been the goal of the BOG over the years to purchase the property for the lasting legacy of the school. The current and previous BOGs and the SHS Foundation have worked tirelessly to bring about the successful purchase.
"We can now imagine the best use of the property and school buildings for the near and foreseeable future," said Principal Rick Parsons. "We look forward to entering into a visioning process with all of our stakeholders. We will ensure that SHS remains a modern, well-equipped elementary school for boys, while also maintaining its welcoming, small school feel."
