Our core value of Sterling Community states that we value an engaged, supportive community that nurtures a sense of belonging and fosters lifelong relationships.
One of the many examples of community at Sterling Hall is our We Day talent show, demonstrating one facet of our engaged, supportive community. For weeks, SHS boys, their parents, faculty and staff work together to rehearse and organize the show. Generations of families came to watch and cheer on our performers. Thanks to the efforts of boys, parents and teachers, the event has been a successful fundraiser for a cause that is very important to us – Free the Children’s Build a School project in Ecuador. This is an incredible community effort and an example of what makes SHS unique and special.
Parents play many roles here, as leaders and volunteers, as ambassadors and philanthropists. Whether serving on the Board of Governors, participating in the Parents Association, or simply lending a helpful hand, our parents give generously of their time, energy and financial support. This has such an important impact on our school.
The sense of belonging that SHS boys and families feel at Sterling Hall continues long after they leave the school. Old Boys and alumni families have been welcomed back to SHS for many years, attending events, visiting current students and sharing news through publications such as White & Blue. The inauguration of the Old Boys Association and the OBA Navigation Team in 2014 has strengthened these ties and is developing new ways for Old Boys and alumni families to stay involved for a lifetime.
Throughout our school’s history, even before the doors opened in 1987, the extraordinary contributions of SHS families have helped to build Sterling Hall into what it is today. From painting walls and moving in desks for opening day, to supporting major building campaigns that have brought us magnificent facilities and spaces over the past two decades, Sterling Hall parents have leaned in at every stage of our school’s growth and development.
With the Sterling Strategy as our road map, we will develop new program opportunities, facilities and resources to fulfill our goal to become the top academic elementary school in the country. As we move into this next phase of Sterling Hall’s history and look to reach new, major milestones, our community will be the leading force of our success, just as it has been for more than a quarter century.
The future of Sterling Hall holds great promise and excitement. Our Sterling Community, with its remarkable strength and enthusiasm, makes this future possible.
Together, we will achieve all that we can envision.
