Kindergarten Social Studies
Our social studies curriculum offers opportunities for inquisitive, hands-on and collaborative learning through curiosity, imagination and discovery. Student interests drive topics of study, while teachers are present to guide and facilitate discussions. We provide further opportunities to enrich their learning through the materials and the inquiry process at each exploratory centre. Our exploratory centres include engineering, building, drama, writing, art and sensory activities.
Kindergarten students work with a wide variety of specialist teachers for more in-depth learning into specific subjects. Each cycle, the students participate in music, art, drama, French, learning commons and technology, in addition to having Physical Education every day.
In both fall and spring terms, Kindergarten participates in K-1 Sports: an introduction to yoga, dance, gymnastics and fitness. Throughout the winter term, Kindergarten boys are offered skating lessons once a week.
Kindergarten students also receive weekly beginner chess lessons in the spring term from a chess master to develop their spatial thinking, analytical skills and reasoning.
