Athletics

A mainstay of our active living curriculum, our co-curricular Athletics programs help boys develop physically, socially and emotionally while building positive relationships with their teachers and peers.

Boys who participate in sports engage in teamwork, develop a lifelong ability to make healthy lifestyle choices and a love for physical activity.

In prior years, we offered development programming for boys in the primary grades. In order to help to prepare our Junior Kindergarten through Grade 2 boys for later participation on a team, we have organized games, skills development and teamwork opportunities. From Grade 3 and up, boys may join competitive and cooperative teams in soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross-country running, skating and hockey, softball, swimming, badminton, tennis and track and field.

Unfortunately, with the current health climate as it is, Sterling Hall has temporarily put our regular Athletics program on hold. The physical and mental well-being of our students is important and we must lead the way back to school sport following provincial and national sport body guidelines. We expect and look forward to bringing sport back for our students when it is safe to do so.

In the interim, SHS has planned daily outdoor  ‘Sharks Move’ sessions for each grade. In addition to the heightened aerobic exercise, the 4 recesses through the day will help keep our boys fit and healthy.
