A Season for Giving

Our Grade 8 boys have been working on a holiday campaign in partnership with the Shoe Box Project - a global charitable organization that assists in the collection and distribution of gifts to women living in shelters. The goal being, to help them feel less alone during the holiday season.

In their Project-Based Learning time, the boys hosted Lesley Hendry, the Executive Director of @gtanorthshoeboxproject. They asked questions and learned about the landscape of the social services available in Toronto, as well as the root causes of some of the larger issues at hand. In addition to donating gifts, the boys had an opportunity to write a letter of 'holiday-hope' to a woman currently residing at the North York Women's Shelter.

Thank you to Lesley Hendry for her insights, the Grade 8 Teachers who helped with this project, Sasha Howell who introduced the boys to this organization and to the boys who passionately championed this project. We are proud of how you are flexing your gratitude, compassion and empathy muscles!
