Experiential Trips Inspire New Ways of Learning
Excitement was in the air as our Grade 7s and 8s boarded buses to enjoy their first school outing in a very long time! We are delighted to return to offering trips to our students and are pleased to be partnering closely with ALIVE Outdoors to plan exciting overnight trips for Grades 3-8 this spring!
Experiential trips are a beloved part of our SHS curriculum and a wonderful way to expand our boys' world view and deepen their engagement in learning. The Grade 7 and Grade 8 overnight trips provided a meaningful opportunity for the boys to enhance their skills, build confidence and encourage their peers. They enjoyed fun outdoor education activities such as rock and wall climbing, hiking, zip-lining, fire-building and outdoor cooking, team-adventure races, yoga, a wide variety of sports, traditional camp games, nature connection activities, outdoor-living skills games and so much more.
SHS embraces experiential learning as a way to connect students’ in-class learning to the world around them. This not only enhances academic, social and emotional development but also helps our boys build strong leadership skills and character strengths throughout their years at SHS.
We look forward to learning more about the upcoming grade trips as they unfold over the coming months.
