Last night was our third workshop, as a group, with Dr. Campbell, a renowned public speaker, facilitator and Faculty Member in the Master of Teaching (MT) program at UofT with a PhD in Educational Leadership, Policy, and Diversity. He is helping us to dive deeper into our growth and learning, as individuals and an organization, regarding Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI).
We at Sterling, continue to have courageous conversations about how we can grow in our cultural competence and about how to be intentional, deliberate and authentic in our thinking and our policies around diversity, equity and inclusion.
As a community, we have a great desire and need to learn more about the history, privilege and power that leads to systemic Anti-Black racism, Anti-Indigenous racism, LGBTQ2+ bias, gender equity concerns and more. By doing so, we can positively shape a future by opening ourselves up to new learning and passing that along to our boys.
Our upcoming JEDI workshops are set to include a faculty and staff workshop with Dr. Wemigwans and two upcoming parent workshops with Dr. Campbell (please see below to register)
PARENT JEDI WORKSHOPS:
Dr. Campbell will be hosting two educational workshops that will foster a deeper understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion, and help us grow in cultural competence. He will also touch on how we can move from awareness into action, both as a Sterling Hall community and within our communities at home.
There will be continued learning opportunities beyond these two workshops with Dr. Campbell - stay tuned for more details. These will help to deepen our awareness of social justice and equity education.
