On August 31, Sterling Hall's faculty and staff spent the day engaging in professional development to gain new and relevant insights and training. In addition to preparing for back-to-school and our "new normal", there was also a focus on diversity and inclusion in this year's sessions.
Our keynote speaker, Dr. Andrew B. Campbell (DR.ABC), is currently a Faculty Member in the Master of Teaching (MT) program at the University of Toronto and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Queens University. He is a workshop facilitator, a motivational speaker, and his research and scholarship focus on issues of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Cultural Competency, Education Leadership, 2SLGBTQ+ issues, and Teacher Performance Evaluation.
Sterling Hall was thrilled to have Dr. Campbell join us. The discussions that were had surrounding racism and inclusion issues and practices were invaluable and will continue to happen on an ongoing basis throughout the year.
Future professional development sessions will include:
October 5: Introduction to Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (Dr. Campbell)
November 2: Understanding Indigenous Views and Knowledge (Dr. Wemigwans)
