SHS celebrated PRIDE Month with learning opportunities, challenges, and activities. The enthusiasm of our boys and teachers was infectious and they relished the chance to showcase their PRIDE spirit! This is, and will continue to be, a wonderful time for our community to learn and embrace!
We were excited to organize a full week of fun challenges for the boys to allow them to gather knowledge while also collecting class points. Many grades, however, got a head start on the festivities. On their own they came up with some remarkably creative ideas such as making tie-dye shirts, rainbow-themed drinks as well as reading suggested PRIDE resources! Some boys even designed PRIDE Minecraft screens, created chalk sidewalk messages of allyship, and sourced fun PRIDE filters to use during their Zoom sessions! They enjoyed PRIDE baking, PRIDE flag making, PRIDE Kahoot Games, a PRIDE reading and documentary list, and sporting Rainbow attire!
Congratulations to our 2C class for winning the most PRIDE points! Honorable mentions go out to SKJ, 2V, 3Y, 4L & 5L!
We are proud that our boys have embraced PRIDE month with such verve and acceptance – they have demonstrated their true SHS character in their support for those in the LGBTQ2+ community. At SHS we continue to practice the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion lessons learned this month and throughout the year.
